Presentation of Credentials

Ambassador Hayden Montgomery presents his letter of credentials to President Horacio Cartes Jara

On 10 April Ambassador Hayden Montgomery presented his letter of credentials to the President Horacio Cartes Jara in a formal ceremony that took place at the Palacio de los Lopez in Asunción.

Mr Montgomery was appointed as Ambassador to Argentina in March 2013 (with accreditation to Uruguay and Paraguay).  Mr Montgomery was New Zealand's lead negotiator for agriculture and forestry issues in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, since 2006.  

Mr Montgomery has served previously in Paris (First Secretary and New Zealand's Special Advisor for the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases), and for a number of years as a Senior Policy Advisor in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (formerly the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry).   Mr Montgomery holds a Post Graduate Science Degree in Geography and Geology.
