Restrictions on purchase and sale of foreign currencies in Argentina

The Argentine Government has placed restrictions on the purchase and sale of foreign currencies in Argentina.  With effect from 7 September 2012 tourists will be allowed to change up to US$500 on first arrival in Argentina and only at state-run banks and agencies located at airports and ports.  New Zealanders are advised to keep receipts of all foreign currency transactions made in Argentina as these will be needed if exchanging pesos into other currencies on departure from Argentina.
