Law passed to improve resolution of Trans-Tasman disputes
Minister for Justice Simon Power has announced a package of new measures aimed at resolving trans-Tasman disputes more effectively and at lower cost. The package was passed into law in New Zealand on 25 August 2011.
The Trans-Tasman Proceedings Bill:
• Allows civil proceedings from one country to be served on a defendant in the other country as of right.
• Expands the range of civil court judgments from one country that can be enforced in the other, and streamlines the process for enforcement of those judgments.

Giant Rugby Ball heads to Sydney
Between 2 and 12 September, New Zealand's Giant Rugby Ball venue will be open to the public at Circular Quay in Sydney.
The inflatable Ball can hold up to 220 visitors and will provide a multi-media experience promoting New Zealand's tourism offerings. At night it will be used to host trade and industry events showcasing the best of New Zealand.
The Giant Rugby Ball's presence in Sydney has been timed for the beginning of the one year to go countdown to Rugby World Cup 2011 on 9 September and the Bledisloe Cup match to be played in the city on 11 September.

Address to Australia New Zealand Climate Change and Business Conference
On 11 August, Minister for Climate Change Issues Nick Smith addressed the Australia New Zealand Climate Change and Business Conference in Sydney.
Smith spoke about New Zealand's four climate change goals and emissions trading scheme.
