Working in New Zealand
If you want to work in New Zealand you must apply in advance for a Work Visa. The Working in New Zealand section of the New Zealand Immigration website contains comprehensive information about the options available including:
Australian Citizens and permanent residents of good character who have entered New Zealand are permitted to work under the same conditions as New Zealanders.
In general citizens of other countries will be granted a New Zealand work visa or permit if they hold a written offer of employment for which they are qualified, and are in possession of an "Approval in Principal", issued by the New Zealand Immigration Service. You will also need a work visa for an Internship (although no Approval in Principle is required), for voluntary work or if you are to receive free board in exchange for services rendered, e.g. for work on a farm.
