Meeting between Deputy Prime Ministers

On 14 July Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bill English met with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer Wayne Swan in Wellington to discuss how New Zealand and Australia could strengthen the economic relationship and work together to tackle climate change.

After talks in Wellington, the Ministers released a stock take showing the steps taken towards the creation of a Single Economic Market between the two countries since an outcome framework was announced in August 2009. Details can be found on the Beehive website.

Treasurer Swan also met with New Zealand Environment Minister Nick Smith and New Zealand Minister responsible for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery, Gerry Brownlee.
