Reforms bring Australian and New Zealand legal systems closer together

On 22 June, Australian Attorney General Robert McClelland welcomed the passage of legislation through the Australian Parliament that will help ensure Trans-Tasman legal disputes can be more easily resolved and at a lower cost.

Mr McClelland said the Trans-Tasman Proceedings Amendment and Other Measures Bill 2011 will bring the legal systems of Australia and New Zealand closer together.  He also said New Zealand Prime Minister John Key’s visit to Australia last week highlighted the close bond between our countries.

Further information can be found at the Attorney General's website.
