On 22 March Revenue Minister Peter Dunne announced that the new double tax agreement between New Zealand and Australia has come into force, bringing in lower withholding tax rates on certain dividend, interest and royalty payments made between New Zealand and Australia.


New Zealand is being represented at this year’s L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) by three labels – Karen Walker and Zambezi from Auckland and Nom*D from Dunedin.


On 10 March Minister for Immigration, Jonathan Coleman, addressed the New Zealand/Australian Business Investment Forum to speak about immigration and the New Zealand economy.

On 17 February, Revenue Minister Peter Dunne announced that the introduction of a new double tax agreement between Australia and New Zealand took a further step towards completion, with the signing of an Order in Council that incorporates the agreement into New Zealand law.

On 2 February, Veterans Affairs Minister Judith Collins announced that the Veterans' Affairs Ministers from Australia, Canada and New Zealand, along with a representative of the United States, will discuss the future needs of service veterans at a Ministerial Forum in Wellington during the first week of February 2010.


Foreign Minister Murray McCully headed to Canberra  on 2 to 4 February to hold talks with his Australian counterpart, Stephen Smith.


Prime Minister Key travelled to Australia on his first official state visit from 18 to 23 of August.
