Death of a New Zealander

If you are making arrangements following the death of a New Zealander who was living or travelling in Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Romania and Sweden, the New Zealand Embassy’s Consular Staff can provide guidance if you need it.

Most local Funeral Directors in Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Romania and Sweden can handle the formalities, and there are specialist companies who can arrange transportation of a body or ashes to New Zealand.

If the deceased person has a travel or medical insurance policy then you should contact the company concerned as soon as possible to seek their assistance and guidance.
