Christchurch - a year on

On 22 February 2011 Christchurch was hit by a devastating earthquake that destroyed a great part of the city. 182 people lost their lives on that day.

The New Zealand Embassy in Brussels is pleased to support initiatives to raise funds in support of re-building Christchurch.

A special screening of "When a City Falls" will take place in London on 22 February 2012, just one year after the earthquake. This event will be covered by New Zealand Media (TV3, NZ News) in the presence of Derek Leask, High Commissioner of New Zealand, and Celeste Wong, a New Zealand actress who is extremely active in raising funds to help Christchurch's population re-build their city. Well-known Maori group, Ngati Ranana, will also perform at the opening of this event.
