Passport entitlement and validity

New Zealand passports are issued to holders of New Zealand citizenship.

All New Zealand passports are valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

Once a passport has expired an application for a new one should be made to the Department of Internal Affairs at either Wellington, London or Sydney.
