ANZAC Day is a significant national day of commemoration for Australians and New Zealanders. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) during the First World War. To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the ANZAC’s landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula, a commemoration service jointly hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Embassies will be held on Saturday 25 April 2015 in Sao Paulo.


New Zealand is proud to partner with the African Union Commission to produce the African Union Handbook 2015. In a significant development, this edition has been published in both English and French.


Foreign Minister Murray McCully today welcomed New Zealand taking up its seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

“New Zealand’s term on the Security Council will place us at the heart of international decision-making for the next two years,” Mr McCully says.

“The Security Council is currently considering some of the most pressing issues the international community faces, including; the dire humanitarian situation in Syria, ISIL, and Ebola.


New Zealand has secured a place on the United Nations Security Council for 2015-16.
