New Zealand Embassy Brasilia, Brazil

Ambassador presents medical equipment to Health Expeditionaries in Sao Paulo

Ambassador McAlister donated a key piece of medical equipment to the EDS Health Expeditionaries group in Campinas, Sao Paulo, for the group’s surgical work in the Amazon. The equipment was funded from the Embassy’s Head of Mission Fund which is used to support grassroots socio-economic development projects in Brazil. The basic surgeries that EDS carries out in the Amazon such as cataract and hernia operations make a big difference to the quality of life for the Indian peoples of the region.

Ambassador McAlister visited the Health Expeditionaries headquarters in Campinas on 4 July and met with the project leaders, Ricardo Ferreira and Martin Ferreira, and support staff. This is the second time the Embassy has supported EDS.
