L-R: Minister Antonio Patriota, President Dilma Rousseff, Ambassador Jeffrey McAlister

Our new Ambassador, Jeffrey McAlister, presented his credentials to President Dilma Rousseff on 23 February at a ceremony at the Itamaraty Palace (Foreign Ministry) in Brasilia.

The Ambassador talked briefly with the President in Portuguese about the New Zealand – Brazil bilateral relationship and how together both countries could deepen ties. The Foreign Minister, Antonio Patriota, and Secretary-General Ruy Nogueira, joined the President while the Ambassador was accompanied by Sue Watson from the New Zealand Embassy.

The presentation of credentials means that the Ambassador is now formally accredited to the Federal and State Governments of Brazil.
