The impossible is happening
The CBRu (Brazil Rugby Union), the Crusaders Franchise Limited (Crusaders) and the Canterbury Rugby Union have agreed a contract until 2017, aimed at improving the tecnical skills of Brazil´s national rugby teams for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and for the future.
The Crusaders is a professional rugby team from New Zealand, and is the most successful in the history of the Super Rugby, which is the largest rugby tournament in the southern hemisphere. New Zealand´s men´s national team, the All Blacks, won the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand last October.
In this agreement, Crusaders/CRFU will make available to CBRu qualified full-time coaches and technicians to assist the planning and implementation of a high performance programme for men´s and women´s rugby in Brazil. Rugby will return to the Olympics in 2016, in the form of Sevens - a fast, shorter-version of the full game. Along with the All Blacks success, the New Zealand´s women´s team is the world champion while the men´s Sevens team won the IRB World Sevens Series in 2011-2012.
We are very optimistic about this unprecedented alliance for rugby Brazil, CBRu said.
