New Passport and Citizenship Fees and New Passport Forms: Effective from 1 October 2010

The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) introduced new passport application forms on 1 October 2010. The fees for all DIA products and services also rose from 1 October 2010, to reflect the Government's increase of the Good and Services Tax (GST).

New Passport Application Forms
The Department of Internal Affairs introduced new passport application forms from 1 October 2010. The Department will continue to accept both old and new forms until further notice.

The key differences between the old application form and the new form include:
- a new form for adults applying for their first passport;
- a new form for adults applying to renew their passport;
- a new application form for a child's passport;
- when an adult is applying for their first passport, and when applications are completed for a child's passport, the witness must hold a valid NZ passport;
- when an adult is applying to renew their passport, the identity referee must hold a valid NZ passport;
- when applying for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) the identity referee must have a valid NZ passport;

The new forms and further information on them can be downloaded from www.passports.govt.nz
