Prime Minister John Key has expressed his deepest sympathies to those affected by this morning’s events in Canada.
“The reasons behind the fatal shooting in Ottawa this morning are not yet known, but it is clearly a senseless act of violence,” says John Key.
“I wish to extend New Zealand’s sincere condolences to the people of Canada who will be shaken by this violent act.”
“I will personally extend those thoughts and wishes to Prime Minister Harper.

The New Zealand High Commissioner in Ottawa, His Excellency Simon Tucker, today announced the appointment of Stephen Snyder as the New Zealand Honorary Consul in Calgary, Alberta.



The New Zealand film “I'm Going to Mum's” will screen as part of the  TIFF Kids International Film Festival on 19 April.

The Hon Simon Bridges, New Zealand Minister of Energy and Resources is to visit Canada 2-7 March 2014.


The New Zealand High Commissioner Simon Tucker hosted a pre-screening of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” to an audience of around 350 people in Ottawa on Wednesday 11th December 2013.

History was made on Sunday 3 November, when the Māori All Blacks bested the Canadian national rugby team in the highest attended rugby match in North American history. A sell out crowd of 22,556 rugby fans piled into BMO Stadium in downtown Toronto to watch the match. The crowd was treated to wonderful renditions of both national anthems, performed by Ataahua Papa and Scott Newland, followed by a haka performed by the Māori team.
