New Zealand flags around the world are flying at half-mast today in remembrance of former New Zealand Governor-General Sir Paul Reeves, who passed away on 14 August.

Sir Paul served as the Queen’s personal representative in New Zealand from 1985 to 1990, and was the first person of Maori decent to fill that position. He had earlier been the Anglican Archbishop of New Zealand, and after standing down as Governor-General served for another two decades both in New Zealand and internationally at high levels.
