Chile: Hudson Volcano
The Chilean National Emergency Office (ONEMI) has lowered the official alert for the Hudson volcano from Red to Yellow. The alert remains in force for the regions of Aysén, Río Ibáñez and Chile Chico (all in southern Chile).
While seismic activity in the area of the Hudson volcano has reduced substantially, the alert notice emphasizes that the earlier episode appears to be part of an ongoing process which could again become a major eruption.
New Zealanders visiting volcanic areas should follow any restrictions and instructions issued by local authorities.
