New Group of 'Penguins' are travelling to New Zealand

Ambassador Capper and the new 'penguins'

The New Zealand Embassy in Santiago, Chile, and Education New Zealand organized a Farewell Ceremony for 50 Chilean high school students who will travel and spend a semester in schools in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The students were selected as part of the programme called “Penguins without Borders”. They were chosen from thousands of students based on their level of English, good grades and social skills. The ‘penguins’ were welcomed to the New Zealand Residence by Ambassador Capper and enjoyed a morning tea accompanied by their parents. Some ‘penguins’ even practiced their passes with a rugby ball. These students are 50 out of the 101 lucky ‘penguins’ who will be joining schools and New Zealand families starting the week of August 12.
