New Zealand Geothermal Experts visit Chile and Peru

A team of experts from Auckland University’s Geothermal Institute visited Chile and Peru in April to meet with relevant officials and research centres.

Geothermal is a key source of energy in New Zealand contributing more than 13 percent of New Zealand’s electricity generation, and consequently New Zealand has world leading expertise in this area. Geothermal energy has tremendous potential to provide a clean and consistent source of electricity generation in the Andean region; several developments are already underway in Chile.
