New Zealand participation in a Seminar in Lima: “Doing Business with the Asia Pacific"
A “Doing Business with the Asia Pacific” seminar was organised by Peru’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism on 27 October. The aim of the seminar was to allow TPP participating countries the opportunity to showcase what they have to offer, and to give small and medium-sized enterprises in Peru an introduction to the business environment in other TPP countries.
New Zealand was represented by Sir Ken Stevens, Chair of ExportNZ and Glidepath, together with Karlene Davis, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Director South America. This participation helped to raise the profile of New Zealand companies as business partners for Peruvian companies.
Sir Ken Stevens was able to provide a concrete demonstration of the possible synergies between New Zealand and Peruvian companies from his experience with Glidepath, which has the contract for baggage handling systems at Lima International Airport and a strong presence generally throughout South America. Karlene Davis talked about some of the benefits for Peruvian companies in creating links with New Zealand companies to take advantage of opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. Both speakers provided an outline of the areas in which New Zealand has expertise.
