Asia Games, Guangzhou 12 – 27 November (update from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise)
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is advising companies to put off business activities in Guangdong during this period, including the week before and after the Asia Games. Accommodation in Guangzhou and some surrounding cities will be limited and travel restrictions will be in force for the games, making travel around the city difficult at times, particularly on the 12 and 26 November. People and bags will be searched on the subway.
NZTE advises New Zealand citizens to carry their passports at all times (as required by Chinese law) because foreign nationals are being detained until their identity and status can be verified.
