Demonstrations in China

There have recently been anti-Japanese demonstrations in several cities across China. These protests have primarily focussed on Japanese diplomatic missions and targeted Japanese businesses. New Zealanders are not considered at direct risk but are advised to avoid all demonstrations and any areas of unrest.

The Chinese authorities enforce public order strictly and we recommend you follow any instructions issued by the local authorities. You should keep yourself informed of developments through monitoring both local and foreign media.
