An international charity sale for persons with disabilities-- “Love Knows No Borders” was hosted by Madam Le Aimei, wife of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, on 4th September 2010 in Chaoyang Park.

Aside from the New Zealand Embassy, there were nearly 80 Embassies and international organizations in China that took part in this Charity Sale.

Connie Aldao-Worker, wife of New Zealand Ambassador to China, was in charge of the New Zealand booth supported by New Zealand and Chinese volunteers. Donated New Zealand Zespri Kiwifruit, Anchor Milk, Comvita Honey, Bascand wines and VnC Cocktails were very popular. The New Zealand stall raised RMB 30,229, the second highest amount raised by an Embassy. RMB 429,326,30 was raised in total by all diplomatic stalls.

The total funds raised at this Charity Sale was over RMB 1,600,000, which will be used to finance projects for community rehabilitation centre for persons with disabilities in Xibaipo, Pingshan County of Hebei Province, and for persons who became disabled in the recent disaster of Zhouqu mudslide in Gansu province.
