Yunnan Earthquake: Minister McCully sends condolences to Foreign Minister Yang

H.E. Mr Yang Jiechi
Minister of Foreign Affairs
People’s Republic of China

Your Excellency

It was with real concern that I heard today of the earthquake which has occurred in Yunnan province. Please accept my personal condolences, and those of the Government and people of New Zealand.

The recent earthquake in Christchurch has made us all too aware of the cost such disasters impose in terms both of life and of material damage. Our thoughts are with the Government of China, and with the people of Yunnan in particular, as you face up to the challenges posed by this most recent tragic event.

Yours sincerely

Hon. Murray McCully
Minister of Foreign Affairs
