The New Zealand – China Doctoral Research Scholarship Programme, which was launched by the New Zealand and Chinese Governments alongside the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in April 2008, is a full scholarship package funded by the two countries. It funds a three year research programme at PhD level.
Prime Minister John Key, Deputy Prime Minister Bill English and New Zealand ministers welcomed Vice Premier Li Keqiang for discussions on the economy, trade, climate change and international affairs.
Education Minister Anne Tolley and China's Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Zhang Limin, signed an education agreement at Parliament which focuses on enhancing education research, science and technology links between New Zealand and China.
