New Zealand High Commission (NZHC) continues its support as a major sponsor of the Leadership Fiji Programme.

This year NZHC under the Head of Mission Fund granted $10,000 to further the work of Leadership Fiji.

The High Commission has been a sponsorship of its programme since 2002.

Acting Head of the Mission, Philip Taula congratulated those involved in the Leadership Fiji programme for their on-going commitment to developing and enhancing the abilities of the next generation of Fiji’s leaders.

Chairman of Leadership Fiji Mr William Parkinson said that New Zealand’s on-going support was critical to the survival of the programme and the Board, participants and the Leadership Fiji Alumni were deeply grateful for this assistance.

Leadership Fiji’s core role is to develop and enhance the quality of future Fiji leaders. This is enabled through skills development and building relationships, characterized by respect, trust and understanding amongst individual leaders representing the diverse elements which make up the Fiji community.

The programme changes every year bringing in a new set of participants from various backgrounds, speakers as well as site visits. The programme content as well as other programme details is always changing to suit the current political, economic, social environment.

This year will be the 12th Leadership Fiji Programme with 28 participants.  254 leaders from a wide variety backgrounds and careers have graduated from the programme and are part of the Leadership Fiji Alumni.

The members of a vibrant and enthusiastic alumni continue to organise learning initiatives to extend their learning beyond the Leadership Fiji programme.

Leadership Fiji has also been heavily involved in the development of regional leadership programmes in Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Solomon Islands.
