New Zealand High Commission (NZHC) in partnership with Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) organised a lunch for the Laughing Samoans at the Official Residence on Friday 12 August.

This was to celebrate the work of WOWS as well as acknowledge the contribution of the Laughing Samoans.

The Laughing Samoans had done three live shows in Fiji to support the WOWS Fiji event.

New Zealand Aid Programme Regional Development Manager, Emma Dunlop-Bennett said it was a very kind gesture of the Laughing Samoans to support the WOWS programme.

“It is a testament to the good work that WOWS has done in raising both awareness of child cancer and funding to further support children with cancer,” said Mrs Bennett.

Mrs Bennett added that it is vital to increase awareness on cancer through education and health promotion as well as such support activities.

Many children with cancer can live long, healthy and productive lives, if they get the treatment they require in time.

The WOWS Shave it or Save it campaign involves people shaving their heads in solidarity with cancer sufferers raising awareness and funds in the processes.

Around 40 people were invited who were predominantly the WOWS board, WOWS partners such as Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, Ministry Of Health and Fiji Cancer, the Laughing Samoans, and other High Commission contacts.
