New Zealand High Commission Suva, Fiji


The New Zealand High Commission was pleased to participate in the opening of a regional cold storage facility in Nadi, funded through the New Zealand Aid programme.


New Zealand Pacific Scholarships are now available for Fiji citizens to apply for study in 2015 at postgraduate level in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Aid Programme is offering 10 scholarships for postgraduate certificate, diploma, masters, and doctorate level at selected New Zealand universities and technical institutions. The recipients will study in New Zealand’s first rate education system and have access to an influential network of Pacific alumni.


Chairman of the Pacific Development and Conservation (PADEVCON) Trust Peter Kiely is encouraging groups and individuals with an interest in sustainable development and conservation projects to consider applying for grant funding from the Trust.

PADEVCON distributes about $250,000 each year to communities, organisations and individuals in the South Pacific for a range of development and conservation projects.


The New Zealand High Commission has continued its support for the development of future Fiji leaders through the Leadership Fiji 2014 programme.

Acting Head of Mission, Mark Ramsden recently presented a cheque for $15,000 to Leadership Fiji. 
“We congratulate Leadership Fiji for its commitment to fostering young leaders” Ramsden said. 

“Leadership Fiji gives a very diverse group of young Fiji leaders the space and tools to think about their role and impact”.


An online toolkit is now available for New Zealand exporters to help tell the New Zealand story overseas.

Since 1996, the New Zealand High Commission in Suva, Fiji has hosted an end of year function at its Official Residence to recognise the achievements of its graduands under the New Zealand Regional Development Scholarships (NZRDS) programme.


Fiji citizens can now apply for postgraduate study awards at New Zealand institutions for study in 2014.

This follows the announcement made by New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully last month that postgraduate scholarships for students from Fiji would be reinstated.

The New Zealand Aid Programme is offering ten New Zealand Pacific Scholarship awards for Fiji citizens to study in New Zealand in 2014 at postgraduate certificate, diploma, masters, and doctorate level.


During the launch of the 2013 National Disaster Awareness Week, Acting Head of Mission Mark Ramsden said the New Zealand Aid Programme in Fiji has a strong focus on supporting disaster risk reduction.


This has been the fifth consecutive year of the Secondary School Essay Competition, organised jointly by the New Zealand High Commission and the Fiji Association in Auckland Inc.
