New Zealand in top ten most investor-friendly locations

New Zealand features in the world’s top ten most investor-friendly locations, according to The Economist Intelligence Unit’s latest Business Environment Rankings (BER).
Singapore looks set to remain the world’s most investor-friendly location in 2014-2018, retaining its number-one spot from the 2009-2013 period. Switzerland and Hong Kong defend their second and third place positions, and the remainder of the top ten is comprised of New Zealand, North America, Scandinavia and other developed Asian economies.
The business rankings model examines ten separate facets of the business environment: the political environment; the macroeconomic environment; market opportunities; policy towards free enterprise and competition; policy towards foreign investment; foreign trade and exchange controls; taxes; financing; the labour market; and infrastructure. Each of these categories is assessed using a range of indicators, scored by The Economist Intelligence Unit analysts for the previous and the next five years.
