Policy/Public Affairs Assistant
The New Zealand Embassy in Berlin is seeking a Policy/Public Affairs Assistant for a fixed term of 12 months to help advance and support New Zealand’s interests.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to promoting New Zealand’s political relationship with Germany, as well as advancing New Zealand’s relations with Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
In this busy position, you will support the Post’s work with the government officials and local contacts based in Berlin as well as the Post’s engagement with government officials and local contacts in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Your first-rate research and critical analysis skills, coupled with strong written and oral English and German communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, will be key to your success.
You will assist with research, analysis, policy reports and papers. You will be making recommendations as well as content preparation for the Embassy’s website.
You will assist with public and profile-raising events and activities that promote New Zealand’s interests.
You will also help with miscellaneous administration duties and assist with Embassy functions if needed.
Annual starting salary for the position will be between EUR 34,960 and EUR 41,952 dependent on skills and experience.
The successful applicant will be employed on local terms and conditions and must have the right to work in Germany. Obtaining and maintaining the appropriate working visa is the responsibility of the applicant and any offer of employment is subject to this. In addition relocation to Berlin is to be undertaken at the expense of the applicant.
