Working in Germany
Working Holiday Scheme
The New Zealand - Germany Working Holiday Scheme offers an opportunity for young New Zealanders to visit Germany for a period of up to twelve months with the objective of combining a holiday with work experience.
For comprehensive information about how to apply, what documents you will need to provide and what to do once you arrive in Germany, please visit the website of the German Embassy in New Zealand.
Since August 2007 New Zealanders can also apply for the visa outside of New Zealand. They can apply with the local German Embassy or Consulate General.
The visa is also available from the local immigration office in Germany after your arrival there.
For enquiries once you are in Germany, please contact the local “Auslaenderbehoerde" (Foreigner’s office) in your town.
The same scheme offers young German people the opportunity of a 12 month stay in New Zealand on similar terms.
