Christchurch Earthquake
A magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred near Christchurch on 22 February 2011. Updates on the earthquake are available on the Canterbury Earthquake website (canterburyearthquake.org.nz). The New Zealand Government has set up the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal as a global fundraiser for the recovery effort in Christchurch. Donations may be made at www.christchurchearthquakeappeal.govt.nz.

New Zealand is open, welcoming and operating as normal, except for Christchurch city and Lyttelton. Christchurch airport has resumed normal operations.
