Frankfurt River Festival, 24-26 August

Te Mātārae i Orehu

This year New Zealand presents an extraordinary line-up of traditional and contemporary culture as the Country of Honour at the Frankfurt River Festival (Museumsuferfest). More than 100 metres of the riverbank will showcase the best of New Zealand’s arts, culture, fine wines and food.

Join us for a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a carved Māori waka (canoe) travel the River Main and see and hear first-hand the richness of Māori culture with kapa haka (story-telling through song and dance). Performance group Te Akirata, brings New Zealand’s Pacific identity to Frankfurt with Cook Island rhythms and beats, and the festivities continue into the night with a mixture of jazz, funk, blues and folk on offer from our top musicians: Warren Maxwell, Flip Grater, Shapeshifter and Funkommunity. Boutique vineyards bring a selection of distinct regional wines, beers and cider to be partnered with fresh New Zealand summer cuisine. Learn more about the New Zealand way of life, our people, land and ideas through the variety of information and specialist products available at the Museumsuferfest. See you for a uniquely New Zealand atmosphere along the riverbank!
