Gallipoli at the Deutsches Historisches Museum WW1 Exhibition
To mark the Centenary of WWI a major exhibition titled ‘1914-1918: The First World War’ is on display at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.
The exhibition was opened by Federal Chancellor Merkel on the 28th of May and runs until the end of November 2014. The multi-media exhibition is curated around 14 key locations of the war (including Berlin, Verdun and Brussels). Also featured is Gallipoli, where almost 3,000 New Zealand soldiers lost their lives.
The exhibition provides a contextualised overview of key events and stages of the War. The exhibition also conveys overarching developments, such as the modernisation of military equipment. It further makes use of individual experiences and memorabilia, offering unique perspectives and personalisation of events.
