Methanol-laced spirits in the Czech Republic

There has been recent reports of deaths and hospitalisations as a result of drinking methanol-laced spirits purchased in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Government has banned the serving and sale of liquor with an alcohol content of 20% and higher. New Zealanders visiting the country are advised to avoid drinking spirits of unknown origin. An official press release and further advice by the Czech Government can be found here.
