New Zealand Embassy Berlin, Germany
New Ambassador presents credentials to Federal President
I had the honour to present my credentials as Ambassador of New Zealand to German Federal President Christian Wulff on Tuesday 3 August.
It was a special occasion, especially since I was the first Ambassador to meet the new President in this way. President Wulff acknowledged the wide-ranging relationship between Germany and New Zealand, and we discussed areas for closer cooperation. One example is agriculture, where New Zealand and Germany are both members of the Global Research Alliance which seeks ways to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
President Wulff recalled his visit to New Zealand in 2007 (as Minister-President for Lower Saxony). On that occasion fog prevented his flying into Auckland and Rotorua. In inviting him to visit as President I said we would try to arrange better weather next time!
