New Online Passports Renewal Service

The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is introducing a new online passport renewal channel (Online Renewal Service) beginning 2 November 2012.

The Online Renewal Service will be for adult renewal applications only. Instead of filling out a paper form, adults over 16 who are renewing their New Zealand passport will be able to do so online if they meet DIA’s eligibility criteria. The Department will continue to provide a hard copy passport application service.

Online Renewals will be processed within 10 working days. The cost of an Online Renewal is $124.50.

DIA is also providing a 24 hour, seven day a week phone service beginning Friday 2 November. Customers should call the Contact Centre on  +64 4 463 9375 if they have an issue with or question about the online application process. When calling from within New Zealand the phone number for the Contact Centre is 0800 225 212.

Customers can also email DIA. Emails are answered Monday to Friday during normal New Zealand business hours.
