New Zealand Embassy Berlin, Germany
New Zealand an increasingly popular destination for German students
The numbers of Germans travelling to New Zealand continue to rise, with the visa section at the New Zealand Embassy in Berlin processing 858 temporary student, work and visitor visa applications in June 2010: a new record for one month! The growth in visa applications reflects the general upward trend in the numbers of German visitors to New Zealand, with the total annual figure now sitting at over 65,000.
Students continue to account for a large share of visas issued, with 1250 student visas processed during the months of May and June alone, bringing the annual total of student visas to over 3000 (not including temporary visas being processed in New Zealand for German students).
The Manager of the visa section, Peter Brendle, sees the continued increase in demand for student visas as evidence that New Zealand schools and universities are delivering the quality services that overseas students and German education agencies are looking for. He notes too the excellent working relationship between the visa team at the Embassy (Iris Hoffmann, Sabine Heinrich, Angela Didon and Mia Massoud) and Immigration New Zealand offices in London and Wellington, as well as with the education officer at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise office in Hamburg, Anja Werner.
An example of “NZ Inc” cooperation at its very best!
