New Zealand Embassy Berlin, Germany

New Zealand on board for Berlin’s ‘Christopher Street Day’ Parade

New Zealand says Ja.

3 Embassies, 1 float; last Saturday saw the New Zealand Embassy join forces with the Canadian and British Embassies for Berlin’s ‘Christopher Street Day’ pride parade.

Preparation for the parade was a real team effort between the three Embassies,  on the day 80 employees and friends were on board for the party.  Live music was provided by the British, refreshments and DJ by the Canadians and from the Kiwis, some lovely New Zealand wine.

This year’s motto was “LGBTI* rights = human rights” and our t-shirts promoted the right to same sex marriage, which was legalised in New Zealand and the United Kingdom in 2013, and 2005 in Canada.

The project strengthened working relationships between the Embassies, offered Kiwis in Berlin a chance to take part, and teaming-up certainly helped New Zealand make a bigger splash than we could have done alone.    A lot of fun from start to finish!
