German Chancellor Angela Merkel and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key met on 24 March in The Hague (the Netherlands), during the gathering of world leaders for the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit.

They discussed a wide range of topics, including the Germany-New Zealand bilateral relationship, developments in both the Asia-Pacific and Europe regions as well as political and economic relations between New Zealand and the European Union.  The meeting confirmed the common interests and values that both countries share and provided an excellent opportunity to continue the good working relationship between the two leaders following the Prime Minister's visit to Germany in 2012.
