New Zealand Embassy Berlin, Germany

Reading with Ambassador Peter Rider and novelist Paula Morris at the English Theatre Berlin

HE Peter Rider and Paula Morris

On 8 April, Ambassador Peter Rider and novelist Paula Morris offered an evening of insights into New Zealand literature as part of the English Theatre’s “Berlin Sofa” series.

Readings from authors as diverse as Katherine Mansfield, Witi Ihimaera, Selina Tusitala Marsh and Karlo Mila explored New Zealand’s rich history, vibrant multicultural society, distinctive natural world, and passion for sport.  Works by previous Berlin Writers in Residence Sarah Quigley, Lloyd Jones and Sir James McNeish also featured – as did a film clip of Jack Lovelock’s gold medal winning 1500 m race at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, an event dramatized in Sir James’ book “Lovelock”.
