What we do in Berlin..

Q&A after the screening and afterparty @ OSCAR & CO

New Zealand stars at this year's Berlinale!

The 64th Berlinale film festival took place in Berlin from 6-16 February, attracting the usual host of international film stars and media frenzy.  Three New Zealand films were part of the programme; a short film Eleven, Utu Redux and What we do in the Shadows, the modern day vampire mockumentary set in Wellington and starring Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clements.

The Embassy hosted guests at one of the three sold out screenings of Shadows in Potsdamer Platz right in the heart of the festival, followed by a reception at nearby Bar Oscar & Co.   Following on from its success at Sundance, Shadows was a hit with the audience, both in the actual screening and the offbeat Q&A session that followed in which the actors fielded ‘in character’ questions from the audience.  Around twenty members of the NZ film community, including cast and crew from the featured films also attended the event.
