The SCHORFHEIDER WILDGRILL presents Mike Brosnan. The Germany-based New Zealand musician draws on his Irish roots to perform with Gerd Vogel.

The evening will be accompanied by Andreé Hauswald’s excellently prepared dishes – New Zealand flavoured recipes à la Mike Brosnan - fresh out of the clay oven. Regional and international wines as well as fresh Wernesgrüner bring the culinary delights together.

The Germany-New Zealand Society (Deutsch-Neuseeländische Gesellschaft) in Stuttgart is holding a barbecue on Saturday 6 August 2011 at 6pm. New Zealanders and friends of New Zealand are welcome to attend.

As with last year's barbecue, the Neckarufer caterer is turning up with a delicious selection of grilled foods, salads and desserts - all you can eat for €15 p.p.. Draught beer and delicious NZ wines will be available.

On 27 June 2011 the Berlin British School in Berlin-Grunewald presented cheques for €500 each to the Ambassadors of New Zealand and Japan, as a contribution to relief efforts following the earthquakes in Christchurch and the earthquake and tsunami in the Tohoku region of Japan earlier this year. These donations were the result of a painstaking fundraising effort by the pupils of the school, who collected 100,000 one-Euro-cent pieces for the victims of these disasters.

Te Wero, founded by Billy and Christine Tangaere of Auckland, presents Pakanga (“War“), an exhibition featuring nine Maori warrior images, a collection of korowai (Maori cloaks) and other contemporary works. Te Wero specialises in contemporary Maori performing arts. The exhibition includes a Ta Moko (tattoo) artist, and the group will perform at the FORUM Factory as well as live at Checkpoint Charlie.

Sir Henry van der Heyden, Chairman of Fonterra Cooperative Group, visited Berlin on 5-6 July for talks with senior officials and business representatives. Fonterra is New Zealand's biggest company and the world's leading dairy exporter.

Hon Tim Groser, Minister responsible for International Climate Change Negotiations and Minister of Trade, visited Berlin 3-6 July 2011. The main reason for the visit was the Minister's attendance at the second Petersberg Climate Dialogue, held on 3-4 July. New Zealand was one of 35 countries participating in the Dialogue, which was co-chaired by Germany and South Africa. The Dialogue generated valuable discussions that will feed into the next UN climate summit (COP17), to be held at the end of the year in Durban.

New Zealand will be the Guest of Honour at the prestigious 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, Arts Minister Christopher Finlayson announced today.

“The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s most prestigious and well attended international publishing event,” Mr Finlayson said. “As the Guest of Honour, New Zealand will significantly raise its profile not only in Germany, but also with over 110 exhibiting countries and the hundreds of thousands of visitors attending the fair.”
