After spending most of 2011 based in Berlin, the explosive New Zealand live act returns with a show at the Gretchen Club on 21 August 2012.


Hollie Smith is one of New Zealand's most predominant & celebrated musicians. After working with numerous bands including ‘Trinity Roots’, ‘Fat Freddys Drop’ and Detroit dance legend ‘Recloose’, she was approached by NZ’s Don McGlashan to perform on a movie soundtrack single ‘Bathe in The River’ that topped the NZ charts & became one of the biggest & iconic singles in NZ history.


There was a brief eruption from Mt Tongariro in the central North Island just before midnight last night (6 August), New Zealand time.
It is the first eruption from the mountain since 1897. There have been no further eruptions since midnight. The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management (MCDEM) is continuing to assess information with the assistance of government scientific advisors.


Robert Sullivan’s poetry compilation “Star-Waka” will be the Maori poet’s first book to be published in German.  Robert will be travelling to Germany to participate in the activities around New Zealand’s status as guest of honour at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair. To increase awareness of Robert Sullivan and Maori literature, his German publisher MANA-Verlag has put this project up for crowd-funding through Pozible.


At a press conference in Frankfurt on Monday 18th June, New Zealand launched its programme as the 2012 guest country of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair (10-14 October).  A multifaceted programme of literary, cultural, culinary and social events will take place both prior to and during the fair.  The New Zealand pavilion will be one of the most spectacular features of the fair.

The Prime Minister undertook his first official visit to Germany from 6-8 June.  The PM spent the first day in Hamburg, home to Europe’s second biggest port and a major industrial and financial centre. 


Rauru, one of the finest meeting houses outside of Aotearoa-New Zealand, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012. The whare (meeting house) is one of the first and continues to be one of the most significant artefacts in the permanent Oceanic exhibition in the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology.
