This year marks the 175th anniversary of the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi / the Treaty of Waitangi.


Foreign Minister Murray McCully today welcomed New Zealand taking up its seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

“New Zealand’s term on the Security Council will place us at the heart of international decision-making for the next two years,” Mr McCully says.

“The Security Council is currently considering some of the most pressing issues the international community faces, including; the dire humanitarian situation in Syria, ISIL, and Ebola.


It’s no secret that New Zealand produces some of the world’s best wine. However, the quality of beer emerging from breweries around the country is raising the bar for New Zealand’s beer industry.


Air New Zealand has been named one of the top 10 safest airlines in the world by, after a year when fatal air accidents soared above the 10-year average.

The New Zealand Embassy Berlin will be closed on Wednesday 24 December through to Friday 2 January 2015.  The office will re-open on Monday 5 January 2015.


New Zealand’s Ambassador for Disarmament, H.E. Ms Dell Higgie, visited Berlin from 26-28 November to participate in the Second Preparatory Meeting for the First Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which will come into force on 24 December 2014.


49 of Gottfried Lindauer’s Māori portraits are open to the public in Berlin’s Old National Gallery.


The New Zealand Embassy will be closed on Monday 24 November and will reopen on Tuesday 25 November 2014.
