The Prime Minister undertook his first official visit to Germany from 6-8 June.  The PM spent the first day in Hamburg, home to Europe’s second biggest port and a major industrial and financial centre.

Rauru, one of the finest meeting houses outside of Aotearoa-New Zealand, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012. The whare (meeting house) is one of the first and continues to be one of the most significant artefacts in the permanent Oceanic exhibition in the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology.

On Wednesday morning 25th April the New Zealand Ambassador Peter Rider hosted the ANZAC day commemorations in Berlin. A half hour ceremony took place at the 1939 – 1945 Berlin War Cemetery on Heerstraße in Charlottenburg.

Directed by New Zealander Bronwyn Tweddle (of Victoria University of Wellington) the play is based on a short story by Guy de Maupassant and adaptated by Travelling Light Theatre Companym UK (German translation from the English by Ulrike Hofmann)

An exhibition entitled Maori: New Zealand's First Inhabitants opened on Sunday 1st April at the Linden Museum in Stuttgart. Lisa Futschek Chargé d'Affaires of the NZ Embassy in Berlin opened the exhibition, accompanied by the London-based Kapa Haka performance group Ngati Ranana.
