The Immigration Act 2009 comes into effect from 29 November 2010. It does not make major changes to the criteria under which people apply to travel to and stay in New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand's forms and guides have been updated in line with the Immigration Act 2009. The forms and guides are available to download now, but can only be used for applications lodged on and after 29 November 2010.

The New Zealand Focus centre will officially close its Causeway Bay premises in January 2011. For immigration, business, education and airline information please refer to relevant agencies and organisations.  NZ Products Ltd, which owns two New Zealand Focus stores in Guangzhou, has been assigned the New Zealand Focus trademark and will open a new retail branch in Hennessy Road Causeway Bay in mid December.

New Zealand Writer, Laura Solomon, was the Joint-Winner of the inaugural Proverse Prize for unpublished writing (2009) founded by Dr Verner Bickley, MBE, and his wife Gillian Bickley. The publication of Laura's novel, "Instant Messages", was marked on Tuesday 23 November 2010 at the Helena May in Hong Kong. New Zealand Co- Directors Danny Mulheron and Sara Stretton won the Audience Award for Favourite Documentary/Short Film for "The Third Richard" which screened at the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival on 14 November.

The annual quota under the Hong Kong-New Zealand Working Holiday Scheme has been increased from 200 to 400 places . This provides more young people from both Hong Kong and New Zealand the opportunity to experience another place and culture while undertaking short term employment during their travels. The 2010 annual quota opens on 1 April.

The second solo exhibition of leading New Zealand glass sculptor Emma Camden will be held at Koru Contemporary Art from 13 March to 8 May 2010, following her previous sell-out exhibition at the gallery. New Zealand wine tasting will also be held at the gallery during this period.

An opening reception will be held on Friday 12 March 2010 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, with Consul-General Ms Adele Bryant as Guest of Honour.
