Vacancies - Policy Advisers (2)
The New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi is seeking to appoint TWO locally employed Policy Advisers to help advance and support New Zealand’s interests in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
One is a permanent position and the other is an 18 month contract position.
The New Zealand High Commission (NZHC) in New Delhi is responsible to the New Zealand Government for its official relations with the aforementioned four countries. The NZHC works closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington and other India based New Zealand agencies in the promotion of New Zealand’s interests. The New Zealand High Commission is a small dynamic office and requires staff who are flexible, hardworking, and able to think laterally.
As a Policy Adviser, you will support the High Commissioner and other diplomatic staff with the Post’s engagement with government officials, local contacts and the business sector. You will be responsible for conducting research and analysis and preparing policy reports. You will also be involved in public diplomacy, visits management, event planning, media monitoring, website management, interpretation as well as general administrative support tasks such as scheduling meetings and maintaining diaries.
Your excellent research and analytical skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, will be key to your success. You must have a good understanding of the Indian political environment, foreign policy and economic objectives.
You should hold a relevant tertiary qualification and ideally have an understanding and interest in New Zealand’s political, foreign policy, trade and economic objectives. Ideally you will have some recent policy experience. We will also be seeking candidates with sound computer skills. Evidence of report writing, previous experience in journalism, working for a think tank and/or another diplomatic mission will be looked upon favourably.
An Indian Police clearance will be required (or a New Zealand police clearance if you are a New Zealand citizen).
