Former New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia, Michael Green, returns for a three months stint at Udayana University
Former Ambassador to Indonesia, Michael Green, was in Jakarta recently on his way through to Bali to take up a temporary role at Udayana University.
This is Green’s second trip back to Indonesia. He recently took part, at the invitation of the Indonesian Government, in the Election Visitor Programme, a programme which offered participants the opportunity to witness how the Presidential elections were conducted in different regions.
Green, Ambassador to Indonesia from 1997 to 2001, says the posting was one of the highlights of his career. He will be based in Bali for three months as a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Peace and Democracy, Udayana University.
The Indonesian Government established the Institute for Peace and Democracy in 2008 to support the Bali Democracy Forum. New Zealand is an active participant in the Bali Democracy Forum and hopes that Green will make a significant contribution to the development of the Institute for Peace and Democracy.
